Yeah, I'm holding my coins for a while until they gain more mainstream acceptance and more merchants start accepting them, so I don't sweat the bubbles/crashes. It's still early days for Bitcoin.

What well known companies are planning on accepting them? I think it'll only take one big company to start using them and the value will skyrocket again.

I thought you were going to say Christmas. Grin

I posted this in another thread but: I made my first non-BTC related purchase with BTC yesterday (putlocker.com file hosting). So incredibly easy, fast, free. Really impressed. Now, granted it could turn out to have been an expensive purchase (if BTC rockets), but I think more spending is needed if retailers are going to start accepting BTC. So yeah, that experience got me excited.

Putlocker accepts BTC? That's my favourite hosting site. Although, I can't see why I would need an account as it's unlimited downloads and one of the fastest hosts out there even as a free user.

Just keep browsing the press section, theres at least 1 biggish outfit announced per week that accepts them...
Keep in mind, some arent in the states..

Also, the numbers of places on coinmap.org grows , almost at 2000 worldwide, granted these arent big companies ... but still, it shows adoption =)

.... its gonna be a while tho.... 2nd half of 2014? Really? Yeah..... if they have to take that long, i bet they're:

+ hoarding coins
+ searching for/forming a new business for hedging bitcoin to completely push bitpay out

Regardless of whatever panic / selloff / bubble popping is going on right now on the bitcoin markets. We are still seeing news of well known companies planning on or as of right now, accepting bitcoin.
This shows faith in Bitcoin, regardless of what the market is doing.
The infrastructure remains strong and is being built every day...
To me, its quite mind blowing and paints an inevitably bright future for Bitcoin.

Every time I see an early adopter put up a big sell order of a hundred or more BTC, and I see the hundreds or thousands of small buy orders eat up that big sell order, I am watching the bitcoin network grow.  What one person was invested in is now invested in by hundreds or thousands of more people.  The more people are using, holding and investing in BTC, the more valuable the whole network becomes.  To me, this is exciting!

Yeah, I like looking at it like that. I often wonder what percentage are spenders vs hoarders?

Well Gen Tarkin obviously it is your personnel opinion that bitcoin has a prosperous future but in my personnel opinion it is hard to predict about brightness of bitcoin in future. Although many companies have begun to accept bitcoins due to its high popularity while many other companies are considering to use it but if countries like china start banning it then you would see how many companies retreat suddenly.

China hasn't banned it, it's just stopped deposits from happening on exchanges. Governments can put restrictions on it, but it's futile trying to ban it outright as it wont happen - people will still use it even with risk of punishment.

Also there are no "countries like China". Communist countries are thing of the past, most countries are open to the world and the needs of the people. China or North Korea were never open to new ideas.

but it has to be this way if you understand how markets work.

you wouldn't want it to go up in straight line otherwise everyone would climb on board and it'd be a no brainer.  the only place you see this type of action is in the stock market which is being manipulated up by inflation which ends up debasing the currency.  so while you win on one hand you lose on another.  Bitcoin is not like that.

Bitcoin started at 0 and if it's destined to go to $100,000 a coin according to the binary viewpoint, it has to shrug off as many ppl on the way up by zigzagging like hell to shake off the weak hands.  only a few of us will be able to stomach the volatility on the way up.  only a few can win.
