Hi all,

I hope I am posting in the right section.

I was wondering why releasing the source code of a crypto coin is a good idea.
Wouldn't this allow for bugs or 'hacks' in the system?

Thanks

If you can see for yourself what the code actually does, you don't need to trust the man who's trying to sell you the idea. Also, contributions, contributions, contributions.

If you rely on secrecy about your security measures, then chances are those security measures aren't that solid.

A good system should be able to handle a potential attacker knowing all its details.

This is maybe a longer answer that you wanted, but you're asking a pretty big question:

No, the opposite. It allows everyone with a computer to examine the code for bugs, or "hacks", or "backdoors". Open source software is the  best thing to happen to software since ..... software
