Well, the title.
I want to be able to game and mine at the same time.
Currently, mining is grabbing a lot of power so even crappy games lag. But since I have 1080Ti, I could just set maybe 70% to mining and 30% to gaming and it will still offer plenty of power to game.

-If you've two or more than two GPU's, you can keep one of them disabled for mining and enabled for gaming.

-If you just have one single GPU, then I think you shouldn't bother gaming and mining at the same time. Just keep the miner closed till you game, and re-open miner application once you finish gaming.

Yeah I only have one gpu on my gaming machine (which I use more often for mining).
I game a lot but don't need all that power from 1080Ti.
I have 13 gtx 1060 in my other 2 computers, maybe I should just switch those cards lol

It depends on which mining software you are using. Many versions of CCMiner allow you to set an intensity parameter that determines how much it will utilize the GPU.  The intensity level varies per algorthm, but most of the time the default levels are between 19 and 24. You could try a custom intensity around 10 and see how that affects your gaming performance.

This will not be possible to do smoothly with any modern games.

You can always decrease the intensity and have your GPU run at 50% load howeve if you try any modern games it will still lag like crazy.

I think it because most games are very intensive on the GDDR and the miner won't properly keep separate amounts between the miner and between the game.

You just need to mine when you sleep and game whenever you are up.

I think it's a bad idea even though the system can run both simultaneously even later imperfectly in mining and playing games a bit disturbed.

Also the mining rig you have to go an extra mile between mining and games.
