Hi!!

I have a bitcoin-qt 0.8.6 and some small amount of bitcoins in it

When I try to send them to other address I get a failed transaction

I verified my addresses with listunspent but there is nothing strange

So, I tried to see private keys and ups:

Private key for address 1drau5TSfhkJF4Lo8xdTidwVMFX8HdKp7 is not known (code -4)

I know that I have generated this vanity address and imported the private key to bitcoint-qt

I see the transactions and amount of bitcoins is correct

Can you help?

Cheers, Tom

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Thats weird, can you back up the wallet, delete the program and reinstall it, and restore your keys?

That is odd, I would backup the wallet and just sweep the private key from my paper backup.

Hi

Thanks for replies

I restored wallet from three different backups but it is still the same Sad

How can bitcoin-qt see the money without private key?

Cheers,
Tom

It really just needs the address.  But, just use your paper backup and a new instance of bitcoin-qt and sweep the funds to another address.

Ok, so my blockchain loads from scratch

I tried to sign messages - all addresses are ok and sign, only drau address says Private key for entered address is not available Sad

The BTC is visible, but not confirmed

I will check again when blockchain loads

Thanks,
Tom

Hi, do you mean only a public address is enough to see btc's?

Thanks,
Tom

Yes Wink

Ok, thanks. I mean sure, every public address is enough to see bit coins but how come the drau address found its way to my wallet's receiving addresses? I imported a vanity private key to wallet. So, where is the private key? Other addresses, also some of them vanity,  there are ok

Baffling.... One good thing there is not too much money there couple dollars

So, the blockchain is refreshed now - no change in status Sad

I wonder what is the reason - could I accidentally deleted private key? I used pywallet... maybe then

Cheers,
Tom
