I mined DOGE early for fun and garnered a respectable amount, certainly worth more than I've ever had since starting at the beginning of this month.  Earlier today I came close to cashing out but after reading many posts about people mistakenly dumping coins right after being introduced instead of months down the road when they would've got dozens of BTC, I decided whats a couple days of mining worth if it has the potential to make me rich down the road.  DOGE already has a lot of infrastructure compared to coins introduced even a long time ago so even when the meme gets old I feel like the coin will still have some utility.

It is definitely an exciting experiment with lots of potential to expand further. However, don't forget to take at least some profits and expect a downfall after the end of the profit taking.

Spot on man. People forget the only thing they really lose out is the few $$ in electricity they spend on the few days of mining. Sure you could go on about missed opportunity costs and what not, but in the end its just a few dollars in electricity. If you need the cash simply sell the few coins you need to cover the power bill, maybe even a few extra to feel like you made something for your time, but hang on to the rest.

Nobody can foresee the future, *anything* can happen. Best bet is to cash out a bit of your accumulated doges and wait for later in case it goes to tha moon (you know it will). May I ask what KH/s rate you threw for how long at what Diff?

Yup, I cashed in about .1 BTC today (which is a lot for me since I'm new) out of a total of about 500k I made mining at 885 kh/s mining most of around day 3-on.  At the time I switched around to other coins and even went offline because I was just mining DOGE for fun.  Most of what I made was done when the difficulty was below 40.  I've got just under 400k DOGEs to ride to the moon for now.

You're forgetting that multipools exist. Dogecoin will only see significant growth if the entire altcoin market grows along with it. If it ever starts to outpace the rest of the coins you can expect an extra 10+ GH/s to be thrown at the network and millions of coins to be dumped on cryptsy a few hours later. It's already been almost completely normalized to the rest of the alts within 24 hours. It was at nearly 200x bitcoin profitability last night and it's fallen to 76x which is still better the other scrypt alts, but not by much.

Cashed out 4mil out of my 5mil today @ 0.00002. This netted me 8 BTC... not bad for a $200 investment a week ago.

Dogecoin is a meme and will go away as fast as it rises. You must remember it was created as a joke... the coin's logo is the face of a dog. It isn't likely to be something that keeps rising in value and is adopted as a payment option by 1000s of businesses like Bitcoin is. The value will peak and with the amount of coins there are I honestly can't see it going much above ~$0.01 per DOGE. That estimate is optimistic and partly based off the performance of another fairly successful high-mintage coin - Quark. Good luck guessing when that peak will happen, though.

Interesting Multipool theory. Good that I dont do that Multipool thing.

Bought a good chunk of Doge yesterday and would have made 150% profit after 12h, but did not sell, will wait for much higher levels. Even if we reach E-5 or E-4 btc prices I will think twice before selling this excellent coin.

You all forget that it has overtaken FeatherCoin already, it is just so much more profitable to mine it. Yes sure prices will even out eventually, but for now, it is the most profitable crypto currency in the world. Period.

I mined DOGE early...

This is just hilarious! Cheesy Just think about it... Dogecoin has been out for what? Less than 2 weeks? And it's taken off so fast that 2 weeks after is "late"? Cheesy

I hopped on board the first day as well. Though that was CPU mining, so... still a poor shibe! Cheesy

Interesting Multipool theory. Good that I dont do that Multipool thing.

It doesn't matter if you personally do it, and it's not really a "theory". Multipools will mine the most profitable coin and dump it until its no longer the most profitable and then move on to something else. Scryptpools is currently reporting that DogeCoin has ~24 GH/s on the entire network. The three big multipools are around 15 GH/s. That means almost two-thirds of the entire network is auto-selling their coins almost immediately after mining them.

There's simply no way to combat that selling pressure until the price falls to a point where the multipools move on to another coin and a bigger portion of the network is holding their coins. It's been happening for the past day, and its very nearly equalized with the rest of the scrypt alts. Its only a few percent away now from losing the top spot.

FWIW, I use Hashco.ws but have DOGE set to not autoconvert - instead I send it to my wallet for holding.  I get the impression that many other users are doing the same, but I could be wrong.

I sold half and decided to keep half for fun.  Not everything in life is about fiat currency right...  I look at DOGE the way I look at ski ball tickets :-)

Yeah, I'm a bit curious about the ratio of people autoselling/holding myself. Middlecoin doesn't have the option of holding and it's double the size of hashcows. Even if you figure that most people on HC/MP aren't autoselling then that still leaves about half of profit switching pool users doing it which is still a huge chunk of the network.

Doge just fell out of the top spot on coinwarz so I'm hoping we'll see a bit of a rebound here. Cryptsy is being terrible and hasn't posted my deposit yet so it'd be nice if it went up before I'm able to sell.
