Hey guys, I'm looking to get into mining and jumping on the Doge craze.

Firstly, my comp specs -

OS - win8 pro 64bit
Processor - AMD FX-8350 ~4GHz
RAM - 16GB
GPU (don't laugh) - Nvidia GTS 250

My old GTX 550 ti went out, so I'm using a friends in the meantime so i can still game.

I read a couple guides and I'm going to use these as my start point.

http://doges.org/index.php/topic,592.0.html
http://dogecoin.ga/dogecoin_mining_cloud_servers.htm

As well as trying to get into the doge.scryptpool

I do still have a few questions as I am new at this. Are those guides good starting points or should I look into other guides to start off with?
I'm aware that if I use the cloud mining, my comp specs don't matter much, but if I went without the cloud for a bit would my comp be able to cut it? or not likely?

Any other friendly advice would be greatly appreciated as well and Thanks in advance!

Ok you want to mine Dogecoins. With your gpu you can't expect that high hashrate. Maybe around 50Kh/s.
First you should create a worker when you Login to your pool.

Then download Cudaminer: https://github.com/cbuchner1/CudaMiner

Create a .bat file in Cudaminer.exe directory an put in:

for Doge.Scryptpool:

C:\Users\....\cudaminer.exe -i 1 -C 2 -l 32x4 -m 1 -o stratum+tcp://doge.scryptpools.com:3333 -O insertUser.insertWorker:insertWorker password

Save and Start that batfile and your GPU should mine.

You might want to wait until you get a new GPU. You won't be getting squat with that old thing.

How can people make money of dogecoin? Doesn't everybody understand that it's satire? It's supposed to be teaching people that all altcoins are silly, not taken seriously.

Profitable satire. Who cares if it started as a joke, it's got value now, and the most profitable coin for the past couple of days.
