Hey there! fairly newbie here!

I have been watching bitcoin for 1 year now but never tried to mine or anything.

2-3 days ago i came by dogecoin on 4chan and thought lets go !

My problem is that i need a new grafic card (i have GTX 560 ti) but from what i have heared are AMD cards are better for mining.

but will an AMD card work with my motherboard

also, 130-160 kh/s with my card is that an ok rate ?

I have never heard of any motherboard which doesn't support both Nvidia and AMD cards so i think you should be fine.

Yes.

Your budget? How much do you want to invest? Do you actually know what are you doing?

best card for the buck is ATI RADEON HD7950, or in short 7950 Smiley
you'll get +- 600kh out of it. it can be set anywhere from 500 to 700kh though.
another good one is the 7970. it uses more electricity and gives about 100kh more (also costs more) so its less profitable but still is.
people also buy 280X 290X and 7990. these are all more expensive and less profitable. I'd go with a 7950.

I have 2 setups. One self built rig rig with 3 cards and one lame core2duo old computer running a 7950.
check this pic for hardware (i get 1780-1820kh from the rig, and the supply is not the one from the box at the pic its actually an antec 1300W 80+ Platinum)

Problem now is not the $... it's finding cards reasonably priced.  Find cards on craigslist which are not overpriced.

If you're serious about mining scrypts, go with either 7950/70 or 280x. I would suggest staying away from cheap brands and XFX. Why? They don't usually push hashrate nearly as much as the good brands.

Since it's for mining I would advise AMD. For a great price/performance ratio I would advise the new Sapphire R9 280X Toxic. It is known that the new AMD cards get hot, but the Sapphire ones are much better cooled, less noise and a OC'd which can even overclock further.

i was quoted around 2500 for a full rig new at microcenter with a case which holds everything, even the 2 PSU's

sound fair?
