I remember finding bitcointalk and joining, but I wasn't much involved with joining forums on the net prior to that.

While bitcointalk may seem ok at first, I found that there are alot of very rude people who frequent these forums.

One of the worst things, is when people refer to others as 'trolls'....

I thought I'd let you all know, that as far as I can tell, the holy bible seems to indicate that anyone

who calls someone else an 'idiot' is in danger of the judgment.

Exactly what that means, I do not know; but I think its not pretty.

I think its a good idea to refrain from referring to other people as 'trolls'.

If anyone is having troubles with having their minds taken over, because they are reading or writing on forums too much,
or if you think that morals or law or etiquette somehow allow people to accuse people like this, without consequenses, well,
you really need to 'repent', before something bad happens to you.

If you were face to face with people, and you called someone a 'troll', I can just imagine the violence that might occur.

Repent and turn back to god.

Merry christmas Smiley

Today is the day that the Lord has made, lets be glad and rejoice in it

The forum strives to allow free discussion of any ideas. All policies are built around this principle. This doesn't mean you can post garbage, though: posts should actually contain ideas, and these ideas should be argued reasonably.

A troll is not an idiot. So calling someone a troll is "bible safe"

Merry Christmas to you too.

I do not agree. A 'troll' is a fairy tale being who supposedly lives under bridges, and is non-human.

I interpret it on a similar level as referring to someone as an idiot, but worse.

I think it is worse that simply referring to someone as a 'troll'.

Or, what is the meaning of the word 'troll' when people are using it on forums?

Anyways, if you want to be safe, its likely better not to be name-calling

There is technically no need for an internet connection if you are a fairy tale being living under a bridge, so most likely the term "troll" means something else in a forum. I do not remember fairy tales to be less intelligent than humans. Some are evil and smart, others are kind but useless or smart and powerless.

Wiki: In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally[3][4] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[5] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[6]
