on a scale of 1-10, 1 as in a scrap of toilet paper on the street you walk by, and 10 being your entire family and children and friends and career and life purpose all rolled into one.
how important is bitcoin in your life?

Very minimal at this point from an investment standpoint. However crypto does hold the brightest future in my opinion with respects to my portfolio.
With that being said it also holds the greatest risk of cataclysmic failure.

preliminary impression is that bitcoin is either completely irrelevant, or quite important to people.
hmm...

Wish I could say "9," but I'm paid entirely in BTC, invest just about everything I possibly can in BTC and related plays, spend most of my time doing something related to BTC, spend hours a week evangelizing, heat the house with miners, buy in BTC... I may name next offspring "Bitcoin" just so I don't have to remember another name and potentially lose memory space for something related to cryptocurrency.
If cryptocurrency were to somehow totally fail on the global level, I wouldn't even know what to do.

I chose 10. I'm a very future oriented person so when I learned about bitcoin I couldn't help but imagine a better life not only for me but for everybody.
I'm talking about a Star Trek fantasy land. I get it, we have to solve a whole lot of problems and make a lot of progress until then but this is a huge part of it. Economic freedom.
In the present most of my financials are based on bitcoin. I don't even want to deal with a stupid bank. I don't care to waste my time on euros and USDs I just like the freedom that BTC and other cryptos give me.
I'd love to work for bitcoin and work to make bitcoin bigger and better. There is a good chance my career will involve bitcoin.
Most of my purchases I have made with bitcoin as of late.
10.

Syscoin has the best of Bitcoin and Ethereum in one place, it's merge mined with Bitcoin so it is plugged into Bitcoin's ecosystem and takes full advantage of it's POW while rewarding Bitcoin miners with Syscoin

perhaps to make you feel a little bit better, while it is technically possible for Bitcoin to fail (perhaps for some as-yet-unseen technical problem despite millions of people thinking over it)... now that the actual idea of decentralized cryptocurrecy is introduced to the world, human beings will never ever voluntarily go back to the inferior-in-every-way, stone-age, central-bank-controlled, blind-trust-needed-and-abused currently-dominant fiat monetary system.

9. I didn't believe anything as powerful as Bitcoin would ever get invented, let alone in my lifetime. It's beyond what I imagined were within the realms of the physically possible. It's the most important thing in the world to me that's not human.

Are we talking importance to my daily life? 1 for that, Bitcoin has no day2day uses for me at the moment.
I like the idea of BTC and anything that gives people more freedom. I put 4 as nothing will change for me if BTC fails, I value it as a idea/concept but it is still too early in it's progression to have major importance to me.

Well it started out as a greeky hobby and turned into 'I should be a millionaire within a year but I should probably do it soon before the system collapses' so it's become very important and time consuming (I trade).

If just bitcoin as one crypto, then it's about 3, if it's cryptos in general, I'd give it 4-5.

I'd say 6 at the moment. It's a big part, but hasn't taken over my life. Maybe it will in the future though. It is all important because I'm hodling. What's hodling?

I'd say 8 out of 10. I am spending some 4-5 hours everyday in Bitcointalk, plus some 2-3 hours in other BTC-related sites. So it is hugely important for me, I'd say.

how important is bitcoin in your life?
A scrap of toilet paper here in China would be ranked a 10 in my books. Ever been to a public toilet here? My livelihood is based solely on Bitcoin and surrounding technologies, so BTC also gets a 10 for me.
