Do I just lost 1 eth?
Most probably NO. Since you are sending the eth to a contract, you should have specified a larger gas amount. 21000 limit is suitable only for eth-eth transactions and it is not enough for the contract. For to send eth to a contract address you should have specified at least 200,000 gas limit. An eth transaction is similar to a ride you are going in your car. Your fuel has been burned and you still didn't reach the destination.
But I wonder if transaction has failed, the ether would have never left your wallet or instantly you could have got the eth back. Try contacting the support of Jaxx wallet as most of them had problems in refund of ether to their Jaxx wallet during such kind of transaction failures.
