Can someone explain what luck is in relation to pool mining. I'm trying to work out PPS vs. PPLNS rewarding. Seems PPLNS is slightly more rewarding in the long run, but only as long as the pool luck is high?

It is only more rewarding because PPLNS has lower pool fees.
So in the long run, you will mine more at PPLNS

Noted... but still I don't understand the 'luck' element when we're talking about mathematical calculations?

Hi,

as far as i understood it its how early you find what you are looking for in a block of numbers. You can find the block early or late, when you have found what you are looking for you don't need to look for more in that unit, you had luck.

Bye
Michael
