In my experience you can't give away bitcoin in Southern Africa.  

I'm giving some away now but nobody seems to want it.  

South Africa is referred to a large number of states. Maybe someone of it is richer and more developed, so can be interesting and accept payment in bitcoin; but in the poorest and destitute states i think that value were in more material resources, like water, food and medicine.
