how to create 'wallet' for new-ish coins

how do create a wallet for a newly launched coin? for example, if i wanted to get some of the free earthcoins being given out. total newb question...

You download it on the official website\page here on bitcointalk directly to your computer. Usually there is only Windows version so if you use Mac, check it first.

On the thread or site, there's usually a download link of the client. Some only have command line interfaces so you might need to spend some time looking through docs.
