Hi Guys,

I recently sent a tip to someone. Immediately I received a "payment received" text on my phone. I thought, hmm maybe someone tiped me.

So I checked my wallet but I have not received anything.

The question is, during this process, does my entire balance gets transferred into two transactions, one the tip and the other one a payment to my wallet worth (xbtc - tip)?

Thanks

Wink

Sounds more like your phone was telling you that your payment was processed completely.

Well, the payment allegedly received looks more like my wallet balance. Not even close to the amount of the tip.

So I knew it wasn't a payment confirmation because if the amount.

That is why I am thinking maybe the way described in the first post is the way blockchain makes the transactions.

Mystery-man, have you used blockchain for payments on your phone ( I have an iPhone) Smiley

Does your new address show up under "my addresses" with that balance? (Down arrow icon)

I checked, my blockchain does not behave how you are describing by default. It seems you can have addresses sent from without them being empty afterwards.

The original program seems more intuitive to me in this regard.

What you reference about sending the balance in an address to a new address is safer I believe: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=334399.0 -- due to the fact that you have never used the new addresses private key.
