I think it relates to the DEV, but who is the DEV?
I really can't understand why DOGE is hot, and why EarthCoin is hot too. But others not, what causes these?

Yes, I can see the procedure is nice, but what does marketing mean?

Earth coin maintained transparency in the release procedure. They made an official announcement in the forum before the release date.

DOGE is hot because its a meme, its cute and people like that shit. The launch was nothing special, just some lame art with WOW all over it.

Earthcoin had a nice pre-announcement, good team, fair launch without a pre-mine. I'm mining it because I think it has potential. Just like all the others. Difficulty is climbing.. If you want to get some Earthcoins better get on now.

"blocks" : 1624,
"currentblocksize" : 1000,
"currentblocktx" : 0,
"difficulty" : 10.16869269,

I think a big factor is that it has some nice graphics for the logo and the website and people like pretty things.

MisO69 I think you may have missed the fact that there was a 2% premine on Earthcoin. Hopefully the devs will use it to fund development of the various services like they've stated (and there's already a giveaway thread from the devs).

A good promotion in the twitter just one day before the launch date.

It is so blatantly a dump scheme. How can some of you not see this? They pre-mined 2% of all coins that could ever exist with this currency...

How is Earthcoin considered hot? It melted down an hour after release, something about the difficulty retargetting.

Yeah, diff on earthcoin changes every block, this caused the diff to raise dramatically right after the start, miners who could not instamine the coin got pissed and called it a problem with difficulty retargetting lol, imo this had a fair start, let's see what happenes next

Marketing is everything, and everything is marketing. Nice graphics, good pools (released at the start), nice website.

Doge is a better example of marketing. If you go to pinterest, its all over the place, there is news about it, there is tshirts, its just all over the place.

Like the stock market, the biggest triggers for a spike in value is news and exposure.
