Hey everyone! I was digging through my piles of crap looking for some extra hash boosts and came across 3 older Dinosaur cards:

ATI rage XL (I don't think there's onboard memory, but I could be wrong
ATI rage 128
ATI Radeon 9200 (128 onboard)
ATI rage theater (I think it's 64 onboard, but I could be wrong)

I'm almost positive that I won't get opencl support or be able to mine with them. But would I be able to squeeze some life out of them? If so how? And approx/guess on Hash/s?

Thanks in advance.

That is some fine vintage stuff Smiley I didnt see any of them in this long list of benchmarked video card https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison and this list goes pretty far back. I dont think you can squeeze any bitcoin out of these - let them die with dignity Smiley

I might just have to do that... Two of them take turns on my MAME setup though, They can keep through the paces surprisingly. I'll probably play with them anyway, just to give them the pride of high priority tasks. Thanks for the clarification that they probably wouldn't work, I didn't think they would.

definitely no.

earliest ATI that can mine are HD 4xxx cards, and even my 4850 isnt worth folding on (80 M/hash@120 watts or so). unsure on nvidia, but you dont mine with nvidia unless you have free electric anyway.

but those cards rock for mame and Ye Olde Dos Box games.

Opencl? Lol

They not only don't support opencl (from 4000 series and more recent cards) but not even CAL (supported from 2000 series). So, no way you can even hash on them...

I have Radeon HD 2600 XT and I've searched a lot how to put it in use, and the only thing close to working was a demo of WebGL hashing. The demo wasn't working for me, though in theory it should work on every card with WebGL (OpenGL 2.0) support (Radeon 9500 and up).

OpenCL is needed for GPU mining and as such only newer cards support this. As such only the 4xxx and newer ATI cards support this (with some exceptions, including some mobility 5xxx series cards)

Theoretically it's possible to make a CAL client and be able to use the 2000 and 3000 serie but... it's useless, their performance would sucks...

I think if you look closer at those cards they have craigslist written all over them Smiley

My 2600 died a while ago, but it would post 144Mflops in a boinc client cf 1000Mflops for a 4850 card.  i.e. slow.  Working backwards, if you're getting 250-300 Mhash from a 5850 rated 2+ Tflops, then the HD2600 should be worth around 14mhash.  (go forth and conquer the world!)
