If you have version < 1.6 upgrade to new version is a bit complicated. Backup wallet.dat is absolutely necessary. |

I found litecoin source have a problem, Sometimes, when wallet application running after 1~2 hours, They do not sync block data, this will generate a lot of problems... I found a solution to fix this problem. |

REMEMBER always BACKUP wallet.datif you update from < 1.6 situation is complicated. You need runing 2 wallets. You can use 2 computers (easy way) or use this way https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=382947.msg4726486;topicseen#msg4726486If you have 1.6 + update is easy - only need copy new files. But allwas do backups (few copies is best)!
