Since you just registered, you wont be able to post in any other sections than the "newbie" section until you reach like 10 posts or so.  Grin

I'm also new to posting, but have been reading for a while.

There is a a good post here, telling you about the restrictions about posting as a new member:

To clarify things.

"Newbie Restrictions
You can only post in the Newbie and Local sub-forums till you have made one post and waited 4 hours. This post must be substantial: at least several sentences. The other two restrictions are you need 1 post to be able to send a PM and 10 posts to put a link in your sig.  You can only post once every 360 seconds to start and there are a few other things that trigger this timer such as logging in and searching."

As far as I understand it there is no need to introduce yourself after registration. Though this is not a bad thing to do. I don't read many boards or forums. In smaller ones I always appreciated some kind of introduction of new members. But that were boards with a few hundred members, probably more localized, less international...

This Bitcoin forum is another beast.

Write what you like to share with others. It might be a substantial post. This seems to be the required thing to promote you from being still a newbie.

Would be interesting to figure out what makes a post "substantial". A certain number of sentences? A certain minimum length, together with a certain number of sentences? What makes a sentence, dispite the common grammar rules?

Oh well, too many questions. (I don't expect answers. Though I wouldn't mind getting some!) Cheesy
