...and it seems like the rate they've been appearing at is identical to BTC difficulty increases.  Nearly everything surrounding crypto lately has the feel of a "freec1ali5v14gr0" e-mail.  Kind of disheartening.

You definitely have to watch yourself. Reddit /r/dogemarket is full of scammers. I've been lucky there so far, but there constantly new scammer reports.

Many people spam because of the restrictions. If you like to answer something in a special thread, you need to fulfill the restrictions like several posts. Maybe that's not the best idea to prevent spam.

yeah it's a shame but it's just the way it is with this sort of new technology. I hope in the coming years the software will make it safer for users.

I don't think there's much software can do. At the end of the day, both parties have to fulfill their end of a trade and either end could get scammed. Unfortunately...

People will do anything for an extra buck--that is, if they have nothing better to do, of which there's plenty.  Anyway this isn't an effect of bitcoin; it does not produce scammers and spammers, the scammers and spammers flock to it.  They were always there, you just didn't notice them.
