Hi folks,

I have a business in Australia I am keen to start accepting Bitcoin with. I had a recent enquiry from a potential customer in Serbia to buy an item from our webstore - but Serbia does not have Paypal. I was keen for this to be our first trial Bitcoin transaction, but after some research, the potential customer has told me he cannot purchase Bitcoins with his Serbian credit card.

Can anyone confirm if this is likely to be true across the board for Serbia, and if so, is there some other way to purchase Bitcoins from Serbia?

I was thinking this would be a perfect use case to highlight how Bitcoin can be useful for businesses, but this has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works!

Cheers for any info/leads to solutions.

Cass

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

the potential customer has told me he cannot purchase Bitcoins with his Serbian credit card.

Due to chargeback risk, there are likely no options for your buyer to purchase bitcoins using a credit card, regardless which country.

There are no exchanges yet that accept for deposit funds transferred from Serbian banks.

is there some other way to purchase Bitcoins from Serbia?

Perhaps there is a method your potential customer can get assistance from an intermediary?  For example sending funds using PayPal to a trusted party who would then fund an exchange account using a bank transfer or other method.

Hey Stephen,

Thanks for your reply! Much appreciated. I don't really know what other options - as Paypal can't be used from the Serbian end. I guess I was hoping someone might have just started something accepting transfer from Serbian banks, as there are a couple of places I can do that for Australian bank accounts....

Thanks also for the link you included, I had a read - what about VirWox? Two options seem to be SEPA bank transfer or Moneybookers, and then to Lindens? That might be feasible?
