So anyone giving BTC away this holiday period as presents??
As part of a secret santa i included a USB stick with a wallet on with some BTC.
Tempted to give my small niece a wallet with some on aswell, and then add some every month, like a BTC trust fun.
Merry Xmas

Whilst the gesture of giving BTC is nice, I wouldn’t give a small child one to hold on to, unless of course you give it to her parents or whatnot, but maybe they'll lose it too haha. I might design some Bitcoin Christmas cards or vouchers next year to give out to family. I'll see how popular Bitcoin becomes this year. Hopefully everyone will know what BTC is by xmas 2014.

Yeah, I'm holding onto the actual account, but for her its on a pen stick with loads of family photos. Gonna add to it as we go along, so in a couple of years its got a couple of £k in it. You can give me 1BTC if u'd like!!

I gave away some altcoins if that counts. Just to see someone get happy. Even if that wasn't really a lot. Like 0.001 BTC worth of Altcoins. Much happyness

I'm willing to accept any coin as a Christmas gift! xP
As for everyone doing the BTC gifts, A LOT of folks this year seem to have done it. Maybe it's 'cause I just got into crypto currency, but it really does seem like they blew up as gifts.

I wonder if more people are likely to give away BTC because they feel its not real Fiat, like people in casinos that gamble because they dont see the chips in their hand as real fiat.
BTC trust fund thou i think is an idea i'll continue.

Fiat? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_moneyA saving account in the UK isnt making a massive amount right now, at the current rate BTC is seeing a better raise than a savings account, even at a 15% increase over a year would be better than savings.

You get next to nothing from interest now. I remember the days when I got over £50 a year in my ISA. I've thought about putting my savings into BTC, but it would break the only invest what you can afford to lose rule.

Yeah, thats the only problem with putting your saving in BTC unless u are fully behind it. Savings are crap now, barely get anything back.

I think Bitcoin is going to be worth a lot more in the future, but I'd stick to your rule. I've also thought about putting more money into it, but I can't afford to lose it, even though I'm sure at some point I'll be able to see a return.

Well it would be weird to give someone 0.05 BTC or so if you ask me. On the other hand 1 BTC looks too much.

0.05BTC is about £25 in the UK which is about right for a gift card, but it would be weird if people didnt know what they were. 0.1BTC looks a better number as a gift i think, well better than 0.05btc but not as good as 1BTC. I guess the physical coins are a good present but cost alot more than just giving some BTC.
