Hi, I keep my bitcoins in Mtgox.

I had a Disk Failure and had to reformat and reinstall everything.

I downloaded the bitcoin client but I noticed it is very slowly updating the blockchain and it´s been stcuck in 141957 blocks since yesterday

Is there anything I can do about it?

Regards

At the time of writing the current block is 141957, your client is up to date.

Backup your computer and test the backups. Disks fail and you don't want them to take your bitcoins with them.

It takes quite a few hours for the initial download of the block chain and whenever you start the Bitcoin client, it can take a couple of minutes before new blocks are downloaded. The client doesn't show you how many blocks there are left to download but you can check the current number of blocks yourself at http://bitcoinwatch.com for example.
