the only time I tried to buy btc on eBay with a "cheap price" as compared to exchange prices, I was scammed.

In fact, that was the one and ONLY time I've ever been scammed buying or selling on eBay.  So now I give anyone the same warning:  look at paypal's terms of service.  They do NOT allow buying and selling of digital goods. including digital downloads, software downloads. bitcoin, etc.  So if someone wants to scam you, this gives them a loophole.  Dont say I didn;t warn you!

Maybe they offer it at discount, because they need to sell it urgently while on exchange its harder, as wire transfer costs alot of money.

Who knows.

Ebay doesn't accept bitcoin officially due to the terms of paypal. It is only possible for them to accept bitcoin if the paypal also allows to deposit through bitcoin, which will never gonna happen because the source of bitcoin income is always anonymous.

If enough people ask eBay about BitCoin for escrow (to avoid scamming), would they consider it? Or is that just stupid of me to think?
ofc they will consider it if there's 10k+ people asking  Cheesy

I think eBay have to support Bitcoin soon, the number of Bitcoin's fans and users is growing daily , and a lot of countries allow making trades with Bitcoin, so i don't see real reason to eliminate Bitcoin from the eBay payment processors

eBay won't accept Bitcoin any time soon, if ever, for the simple reason that Bitcoin is irreversible and so requires funds to be held in escrow until both parties are satisfied.  It also requires fees to be paid by the seller either in advance or at the time of the sale, deducted from the amount received by the seller.  This is such a huge departure from their current model that they simply couldn't support it in parallel with their current transaction process via PayPal.  People (sellers particularly) will just get totally confused... "If they pay with PayPal I get it straight away but if they pay with Bitcoin I don't get the money until after I send the item and they notify eBay to release the money??"

This is the reason that https://cryptothrift.com exists and why it is so popular amongst the Bitcoin community.  Everybody knows in advance that if the buyer chooses to use escrow (which they should), the money goes into escrow and the seller will receive their money after they have delivered.  The business is built around an escrow service that expects to have to intervene to resolve disputes and to release money from escrow to sellers in the event the buyer forgets.

Disclosure: I am the co-founder and developer of CryptoThrift... expect big changes to arrive soon!

Nah, i think ebay already approve bitcoin as their payment, but not.

The OP of this thread ever said, ebay accept it. What is his plan to share some hoax in here.

For the OP: if you want sell same books with BTC, you can sell in on this thread and give us know about your conversation with the CS's ebay.
But please do not make some hoax news here.

For paulthetafy: It's nice.! Very great work. Hope your service can help a lot buyers and sellers in BTC.

Not unless Paypal agreed that Bitcoin is better than fiat and willing to add Bitcoin to they payment system Roll Eyes
Which won't happen in the short time, but my gut tells me it will happen in the future Smiley
Don't lose hope, keep using Bitcoin

Indeed. I mostly stopped selling stuff on eBay because they made it so easy for buyers to run scams and give sellers no help.
True. They do not help the sellers when they encounter that kind of situation.

In the future, there will be banks dealing with bitcoin just like fiat. You paypal account will link to that bank. Then your bitcoin become reversible when you sell things on Ebay.
