I bought one for me, and one for my daughter.  I have 0 use for the one I own, I used it one time, and my phone does the same thing.  In need of funds for Christmas/New Years, will sell for slightly below retail.  Perfect condition, included is a car charger, home charger, 2 cases, 2 screen protectors, wrist strap, and stylus.

Selling for 240.00 in btc.

Not shipping first, not escrowing, need funds.  I am online on Grid Poker (btc poker site) most days and nights, and am trusted.  If close to Saint Louis, may arrange face to face pickup, for cash.

I play softball and vollyball for my high school.  I am pretty good too Smiley

WTF i send him 0.005 BTC. Damn it!

Im a goth chick, who weighs 74 lbs.  I lost my money for food this week, so I am going to drop to 71 pounds.

how do people fall for this?  Shocked

I figured this guy would be a scammer, got a PM from him earlier asking for donations. Any new user that solicits donations for charity via PM is probably always scamming.

This is the most disgusting type of scam, makes me sick thinking about it.

People always want to believe in the good, hard to blame them for that.. He PM'd us too, here's how we went about it..

"It is very unfortunate for legitimate charities that there is so much charity related scam already on the forums.

You and your cause both sound legit to us, but unfortunately so did others that were later proven to be scams. This would be much easier if you were a well respected Hero Member with high trust ratings, but that, at least for now, doesn't seem to be the case. The best we can do is this- If a reputable member of the forum with positive trust score vouches for you, or if a few reputable members or companies we know donate to your charity, we will gladly follow suit."

We suggest taking a similar approach before donating. Also, we feel something needs to be done to bring about a standard process through which charities could be legitimised and vouched for by trusted members. It would go a long way for the community if we could redirect the coin towards real causes that otherwise might've gone to scammers (and the most despicable ones at that).

I think the time has come for BitcoinTalk to have a Charities section with one subsection entitled Charity Announcements, of which no bitcoin wallet address is submitted and is used solely as a vetting process. Not until the NPO passes muster by its peers, read us, fellow bitcoiners, does it get moved to the Charities section only by a mod/admin, upon only then a bitcoin wallet address can be added to the thread. This act should clean up the rest of this forum at least in this regard.

We can start by adding the following venerable causes to the hopefully new section:

Bitcoin 100
Sean's Outpost
My mega thread that feeds people
Dab's two main causes, based in the Philippines

Apologies for not adding any other ongoing noble causes above.

Somebody quote this post and start a thread in Meta for theymos' attention if you feel such course of action is warranted. PM me if such occurs.

Thanks, in advance.

If you want to throw Oxford Homeless Pathways in the list as well I would be grateful.

<edited the post of which quoted for clarity and grammar>

What I propose is for ongoing and future BitcoinTalk discussions pertaining to garnering donations via bitcoin, albeit a dedicated thread discussing Oxford Homeless Pathways is not outta the question. If OHP already accepts bitcoins on their website, then I envision it on the Charities section, otherwise it would be in the vetting section. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for your input, Kelticfox.

Charities section would certainly add legitimacy to the idea that charities (especially newer ones) need to go through some sort of a process in order to be considered "legit". The problem the way we see it is that it's still unclear what process charities would have to go through to not discourage them on one hand, while making it near impossible for scammers to pass on the other. Before we go about opening new threads, let alone forum sections it might be a good idea to figure out a way to do it in a way that would solve the problem in a real way and not just promote some of the existing charities.

Thanks for your input, Kelticfox.

I'll see if I can get them to accept BTC directly then.

They currently run a voucher scheme (£35 for 10 vouchers) in which the donator receives a booklet of vouchers to give directly to a person who is homeless.
Getting them to accept BTC shouldn't be too hard (as I already know who to speak to as I've just finished a donation drive for them).

All UK charities have a charity number. No number = not a legal charity. I would assume that other countries have the same system?

If so then that would reduce the leg work, we would just need to tie a BTC address to the charity.

I wouldn’t donate money to any charity on here at all. But if you must, as above check they had an official Charity Number, or whether they are doing an official charity collection in Bitcoin where the address can be verified.

Big thanks to Rainbow_Warrior on Two Plus Two and the other poker site admins who are taking this matter seriously.

Ugh, why does anyone donate to a charity on a forum there have been so so many scams in the past i think people should be aware by now ?

If you wanna give charity, do it directly. Visit a local charity, or go to their website, or just visit someone you know who is really poor and help them.

Middle Men are never needed for charities, never ever. They are almost always (99%) scammers, even if they turn out legit they will still bag a heft percentage for profit.

i did, you're tracking him down good for you and others involved. But the whole thing could've simply been avoided by using common sense as i stated earlier.

His other scams (5 aliases known, who knows maybe he has 20 and talking to you right now) have nothing to do with a charity.
This person is a danger to bitcointalk and probably a danger to the whole internet.
Thanks for your comments.
