I am a non-EU migrant in the UK. You have no idea how hard it was to get my work permit.

I work, I pay tax, I have no access to public funds, no benefits, no housing, etc, etc.

I have to work for THE employer who hired me for the work permit, no one else, and if I stop working I will get deported.

When these racist morons babel on about welfare tourism by immigrants, they are only describing some EU migrants but most of them don't realise the difference.

Eating it up, ya know the media has you targeted as a freeloader and protected by international law, they do not describe your struggle and the UK appears to have a strong stance against you, they are either unwilling to recognize how you contribute, or, your contribution is not enough when compared to their standards, keep your head down and do the work they obviously do not want to do, in the meantime you might think of migrating again, come to the U.S where our society is a little harder on you but on the upside, you can have a little freedom.

The government can't do much to restrict EU citizens from coming into the UK, except for leaving the EU. They can't do much to asylum seekers. They pledged to reduce net immigration to tens of thousands a year from hundreds of thousands a year. They must be seen to be doing something. Restricting people from outside the EU is the only way.

How is the UK like? It's ok. Most people I met are honest and have integrity. It is indeed cold and dark and grey and everybody is miserable.... except in Cambridge, where it is drier than the Sahara Desert. Gloomy weather reports usually do not apply around here.

I am no economist but here is my simplistic view.

Fiat money really is just free money. As you are already aware, central banks and fractional reserve banking systems all over the world print money.

The UK government for example has a budget deficit and that means it has to borrow to meet all of its expenditures.

That means issuing bonds. Some of that is bought through QEs by the Bank of England (and elsewhere), via other little banks. Some are bought with money created through fractional reserve banking.

It can be seen then, that welfare is partly paid for with money printing.

In the grander scheme of things, everything we enjoy from the government is partly paid for with money printing.

The system works fine as long as those who get paid actually do the work they are paid to do.

When people find out they are doing all the work in the system, while some lives off welfare and others (read banking sector) siphon money from the printing presses, they get upset. It is understandable.

I don't know what the solution could be. There is work to do and someone has to do them. Going back to a model in which you don't eat if you don't work would be a step backward. I fear a completely bitcoin economy may be that way. When people don't eat, they rebel.

Its like they are pre programming people to be dependent, and inducing behavior that only result in more dependency!

Your are right about someone having to do something! But i think the handout train has so much momentum that derailing it would cause catastrophes within low income and middle class families who are not prepared or able to leave this life of handouts they are leading!

How about the head of the CDC ! The flipping center for disease control.. So important to all of us.. but there too!!

I always find it ironic when people complain about corruption by governments in the Middle East or in Africa, yet the UK and US governments are the most corrupt of all, they just get away with it easier because the public are blindly ignorant of what is happening.

This is part of the problem with states that have too much benefits that go on too long.  Many people just get lazy and take and defraud the govt and there's no incentive to work.  It's just like why the highest income tax brackets shouldn't be TOO high or else people will lose the motivation to work if they'll lose the money to taxes anyway.
