About 6 weeks ago I withdrew a large amount of US dollars from my MtGox account. The funds were deducted from my MtGox account but have not yet been received at the destination account.

Due to all the troubles I have read about, I now prefer to reverse/cancel the original withdrawal request, so that th funds can deposit back to my MtGox account.

Can somebody please tell me how do I reverse/cancel my original Withdrawal request?

Thanks

Not sure if this is possible.

Lots of people have been having issues with getting money out of Gox.

I would advise trying to contact them repetitively until they respond.

you can't... MtGox is a pain to get money out... you'll get it... just "eventually" there's no reverse button on USD like a crypto

Thanks for the answers

My concern is that the only thing I have to show hat I even made the withdrawal is a standard email they sent me a few minutes later, it gives me a "TRANSACTION REFERENCE" number, time of the withdrawal, and my IP address.

It says nothing about the amount. Also, since it is a dollar withdrawal and not a BTC withdrawal, it doesn't show up in my account history.

Is this normal? I read that some people get a Transaction "Confirmation".

This may be a silly question, but......why SHOULD/WOULD they give me my money back? I mean, I don't recall ever signing anything with them. Are they at all legally bound to give me back my money? I mean, what is their incentive?

Gox is notoriously hard to withdraw fiat from. That's why their prices are so much higher.

I've heard BTC-e is the opposite (hard to deposit fiat) and their price is generally low.

It's just one of those things where you gotta wait. If nothing happens soon, just keep contacting support until you get an answer. If nothing happens in a timely manner after that, fun threats can begin.

Their incentive is to not fuck up and lose users. They want to stay in business. What I've found from sites like Gox and Coinbase is that they are sometimes incompetent, not sinister.

BTC-e is hard to deposit... they take money from 15 different places and none of them takes money from paypal, Creditcard so you need another 3 party lol...

I went with direct bank transfer (scary to send money to a UK company own by a russian using a Czech bank LOL) but worked smoothly. send copy of ID and utility bill and now deposit only takes 24h and withdrawl 3 days on fiat Smiley

OK Thanks

I don't know how far a threat would get me, or who I would threaten.

If they are insolvent or this is a Ponzi collapse, even if they WANTED to return my money to me, they would not be able to.

My understanding is that, physically, there is a location in Tokyo where MtGox has offices. I also saw address for "parent" company Tibanne Company LTD, also in Tokyo.

If you discard insolvency and some real issue getting the funds to me, and assume the literally are stealing money from people, given that legally speaking there is likely no recourse, if I were them, the only concern I would have, other than my own ethics and conscience, would be a bunch of people scattered over the world who lost hard earned money, and some sort of retribution like if one is at the end of ones string one goes to Japan and takes matters into ones own hands? I mean, like street justice?

Like the guy who went postal and shot up Ameritrade.

I would never do that but I really don't see why others would sit crossarmed and do nothing if a substantial sum is stolen from them.

The fact that Gox does not even respond is no help. Maybe its the holidays.

I would like to hope that the money comes to me, but from what I have read, there are serious problems, especially sending US Dollars to the US.

I see you say that "eventually it will come" Huh?

I hope you are right

Thanks for the responses

the best solution is if I could cancel/reverse the withdrawal request, then buy BTC and send them to another exchange and withdraw fiat from there, even if a 10% loss. This seems to be a common solution. That, or withdraw as Euros o a non us destination if you can.

But from what comment above says, its not possible to reverse/cancel a withdraw request, even though I have read several posts from people who said that they DID cancel/reverse a withdraw request.

@Chipichapa It's possible however you need to contact directly the mtgox support about your funds.

Update: MtGox finally answered all of my support requests - which is very good

They cancelled my withdrawals and posted the funds back to my account, as I requested

Also, a user on another forum gave me some very good info, which is that on the MtGox page account history, if you click on USD instead of BTC, it gives you a different history, showing withdrawals and deposits of USD.

So all is good, thank you MtGox

Then overall it sounds like btc-e is not difficult to deposit Huh As far as bank transfer works and reasonable, you don't need third parties..Does it depends on country regulation?

The issue with btc-e exactly the opposite as with mtgox. It is quite easy to deposit fiat through SEPA to btc-e, but when you try to withdraw BTC which you bought on SEPA-deposited fiat, you will be said that it is on-hold for 1 month because you deposited money by SEPA.

Interesting, I haven't heard of this before.
