Yes I would like to go. I don't understand why you are suggesting a bus pickup from Perth though. That's an insanely long drive. i'd much rather fly. Probably just organise the conference and let people organise their transportation. Maybe have it somewhere near accommodation so it could be a a couples of days of conference and a couple of nights of going out reveling.

Yeah, most people will probably get their own transport, but alot of the guys in WA already know eachother, and thought it would be fun, plus a "convoy" across australia to get to it would get some media attention - which would be good.

Well it was my idea to try to organise a bus or convoy from Perth, hopefully getting SA and western Vic ppl to join on way thru, I also suggested it might be possible to do this from QLD thru NSW and ACT. We arent telling ppl to come on the bus/convoy, it's just an idea, and obviously it is a long trip and some ppl wont be able to get time off work etc. Fly over great!! just be there To me the whole idea of this is PUBLICITY, popular press loves "convoys" and stuff that cross the country! Personally i would like to ride my motorbike over and go via great ocean road, not sure if this would be best route for a bus or convoy tho Please also remeber this idea is about an hour old now, so we are brainstorming and seeing if there is interest What would you like to see at a Aussie Bitcoin Conference/expo? - we havent even worked out what to call it yet!! Bitcoin babes with small chocolate "Bitcoins" to give away was one suggestion - or is that too sexist? give us your ideas folks! This is about getting the Bitcoin word out to the public anbd getting to know some of the faces of BTC in AU. If this gets some momentum we may even be able to get some of the bigger BTC businesses and names to attend from around the world - we'll certainly be inviting

Well ..for an idea born only an hour ago i am impressed ! Count me in - in fact; anything i can do to help coordinate this is available. In order to make it happen we DO NEED IDEAS AND INPUT ..what should be there? What is our purpose (except good booze and Bitcoin Chicks ) I personally would love to see Bitcoin in Australia promoted throughout the entire process - We all know how much Australian Media love to cover a "Good Old-Fashioned Convoy" so am happy to spearhead the Canberra/Sydney contingent. "How To Build A Rig" "Bitcoin2Web Hackathon" "Mine-A-Thon" Just ideas Great work BitcoinAustralia! TTFN - TaTa For now! MrTiggr

Gotta be easy to get more than none!!! Publicity is the major motivator for most of us. The bonus of getting to meet some of the great people we have met thru btc and have maybe a beer will be awesome too ! MtGox - MagicalTux will be attending in person. . << an early coup, maybe the other big exchanges will see the value of attending

50% of the time dedicated to preparing for the conference should entail gathering media attention. I mean like 100-200 hours of pure commitment to this and this alone.

For sure - anyone with experience handling the media that would like to volunteer some time would be appreciated -even to give us less experienced ppl with the time some tips/info? I have tried emailing AU media outlets in the past and go zero responses. The more of a "community" project this is the stronger it will be, so far everyone involved is a volunteer

Also provide us with some brief details of what you would like us to mention in terms of date, location, time, # of attendees, purpose, etc. once these are finalized so that we can include these in the emails.
