According to thread I'll link to below once you go up to 900 mhz core clock the temp becomes much harder to control. I think you need 900+ to get the expected megahash out of your 6990's.

Didn't seem to make any difference:

Try using Phoenix instead maybe?

That's about the expected speedup from Phoenix. What driver version are you running? And the drops in utilization look odd.

Did you do the 3% Phatk mod?  I got around 12-15 MH/s more with nothing else changed.

Try these settings:

(Overclock Switch ON)

Core: 910
Memory: 840
Fan: 75%
Try these flags: -v -w128 AGGRESSION=12 BFI_INT

Setup a poclbm miner for each core in GUIMiner. For some reason, phatk runs *awful* on my properly-setup Windows 7 x64 machine. Therefore, I've been sticking to poclbm without any issues for the past few months.

I run (5) 6990's 24/7 @ 100% and the cores hover anywhere from 69*C to 86*C, depending on machine. You're fine at 80*C. Smiley

Just wanted to update:

The card I was dealing with must have just been a bad batch one because I just got in another MSI 6990, switched it out with the previous one and now I'm getting ~410 mhash/s on each core and the temps are staying under 80 degrees.
My other MSI 6990 in the same spot and with the same exact settings was running at high 80 degrees and with only ~370 mhash/s on each core.

Luckily I sold the other one already and might go with just a 6950 in addition to the 6990.

You're also using old guiminer with old poclbm/phoenix. use the one that got released in august. it has phatk2.2 and much faster

Anyone know why I might be getting lower-than-average mhash/s on my MSI 6990?
The was brand new factory sealed so it hasn't been pushed at all yet I am getting far less than even 700 mhash/s.
Currently have it at a 850 core clock and 625 memory clock (see below) and the temps are already getting close to my personal threshold range (~80 degree's):

I'm running a 6970 (1/2 6990) using Phoenix r112, Phatk 2.2 at 950MHz/1375MHz and I'm getting 423MH/s.

Code:
	-k phatk_2p2 DEVICE=0 AGGRESSION=13 BFI_INT WORKSIZE=128 \
VECTORS FASTLOOP=false
