Here is what I would like to do. I've made some modifications to the p2pool code for alt coins and I'd like to test them with Earthcoin. I was able to get about 2-3 MH/s of users yesterday and throughout the night but unfortunately since the EAC difficulty spike, we weren't able to find a block.

What I would like to do is get enough hashers in the pool so we can find a block within a couple hours. That's going to take a lot of hashing power but all I'm trying to do is prove stability and payouts, so really I just would like to find 1 block.

In order to do this, I think we need to coordinate. I would like to see if we can get enough hashers together from 7pm-10pm CST tonight to find a block. Here is a list of equivalent timezones for coordination.
Pacific Standard Time Sat 12-28 5:00 PM
Mountain Standard Time Sat 12-28 6:00 PM
Central Standard Time Sat 12-28 7:00 PM
Eastern Standard Time Sat 12-28  8:00 PM
Bejing China Sun 12-29 9:00 AM
Paris France Sun 12-19 2:00 AM
Moscow Russia Sun 12-29 5:00 AM
Corresponding UTC (GMT) Sun 12-29 1:00 AM

If this is too soon to pull this off, I can reschedule it, but I'd like to do it during a time when I can monitor and that's open for me tonight. If people start suggesting other times and it doesn't appear we can pull this off, I'll postpone it.

Also, I would like to setup a donation address for people to donate EAC to and at the end of the test, successful or not, I will split the donation pot between all the hashers that stuck around for the whole test time. I would like for this to include the donation that the EAC dev said he would donate if we can get that to sweeten the pot. I want to be completely transparent about this and am in no way going to run off with the donations. I'll even post the address to the block chain so people can monitor the address and see that it will have a 0 balance once I'm done splitting the donations. All I'm really trying to do here is prove p2pool and the modifications I made to make it stable with some of the newer alt coins.

If you're interested in helping, drop a line here. I'll make the final decision whether we go tonight based on the response. If you would like to participate, and to give me an idea of the turnout, post a reply and put in your hashing power you can contribute. Let's make this happen! Please let me know if anyone has questions.

Pool Information
If interested, point your miners to:

stratum+tcp://eac.squiggie.com:19330

Use your payout address as your username and anything as your password. For example, here is a sample cgminer connection.

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://eac.squiggie.com:19330 -u ef17LZCpsCcx6yhHH1np25R6QwiAD6fYAD -p x --scrypt

Additionally, you can append a difficulty level to the end of your username for the hashing power you have. This helps reduce the amount of stales and orphans you get. To set the difficulty for your specific hash rate multiply by 0.00000116
For example, if your miner is capable of 1440 Kh/s:

1440 * 0.00000116 = 0.0016704

Example Connection String for a miner capable of 1440 Kh/s:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://eac.squiggie.com:19330 -u ef17LZCpsCcx6yhHH1np25R6QwiAD6fYAD+0.0016704 -p x --scrypt

The following difficulty settings can be used as a guide:

Kh/s        Difficulty
1           +0.00000116
50          +0.000058
100         +0.000116
250         +0.00029
500         +0.00058
750         +0.00087
1000        +0.00116
1500        +0.00174
1750        +0.00203
2000        +0.00232

Thanks for all the help!

Edit: Updated time table for all.

Would definitely like to help again!  Grin

You may want to choose a date and time a bit further off to allow more people to see this thread.

Also a quick list of equivalent timezones would make it easy for people to co-ordinate......I'm in New Zealand but GMT would be an obvious one....maybe China too?

Good Luck!

Yea I thought about the international timezone thing right after I posted. I'll see what I can do to modify that. I would like to see what the response is for tonight since I don't know when my next dedicated time would be. It might not be until Tuesday. We will see. I might change it.

We're up to > 10MH/s so we're getting there. I'd love to see some more hashers get us to around 40MH/s so we could get a block found in around an hour. If you're at all interested in seeing p2pool work with EAC, please help.

Yep second one - loved it, particularly the NZ scenery.

Good to see you've got more people since I left!

Yep, we've gained some traction. We're still around 10 hours or so at this diff. I'd like to get to around 40MH/s to see if we can get a block before the night's over. Hopefully with some attention we can make it there.

Hey squiggie!

I've never heard of or tried the difficulty setting before at the end of the wallet addy, but I tried using it the calculations that you stated. However, I am getting about a 50% rejection rate. Do you know why this may be? I am running two rigs, one 4,300KH, the other 3,500KH. I set them accordingly via the 0.00000116 * KH, but still getting crazy rejects.

Could this mess with the -w 512 setting I have already set up in the .sh file I run my cgminer with?

I am removing the dif modifier at the end now to see how it goes

Try setting your gpu setting to 1 instead of 2 or more. That helps as well with p2pools. Take a look at http://squiggie.com/pools/faq/

I know I sound lame but what's the difference between a p2pool and other pools?

I got 3,5Mhs on another pool for EAC, I will change on that p2pool if it's better.
