Amazon won't accept it unless everyone else has first. They have their own redeemable "coins". If it gets truly big, and truly global, Amazon won't have a choice though. They would need to do it because they completely rely on quick shipments, quick payments, and high volume. They won't ignore the new wealthy elite. If I had to pick a date it would be at least 2 years down the road.

As Long as the BitCoin has a quick USD sale, anybody and any company can get into it without risking much. The real challenge would be for it to stand as a real currency (not linked so much to dollars)

If Overstock pushes other big online retailers into accepting BTC as well, I could see it. Then again it won't need much help as I think it'll be well over $1200 by next winter.

IMO, Amazon will never accept Bitcoin because it's too shady of a currency and the value changes too much. Amazon sells too many items at too various of prices and they have too many sales for it to be worth adding.
The only reason Amazon would add BTC is if everyone with plastic currencies dropped dead.

Hate to say it, but it's true. I agree 100%.

i agree with that too, but then again i/we could be wrong. jeff bezos is a libertarian after all. but it would need to make sense for them to do it as a company first.

Amazon may accept BTC in the future, but it wont be for a while yet. I think if the currency gains more mainstream traction with other merchants getting on board, then I think Amazon will too, but they wont be the first big retailer to adopt it. i agree with that too, but then again i/we could be wrong. jeff bezos is a libertarian after all.
Is he? He seems just like another greedy tax-avoiding capitalist to me.

@Cgriswold Actually that isn't possible to pay something with Bitcoin on Amazon however you can still found some independent seller.

the acceptance might come, but first, BTC has to stabilise itself and I dont see this coming in the near future. Right now, it is more of an amazing volitile digital commodity with some payment options.

Depends how you define 'near future'. I reckon it will stabilise eventually, but it will take time.

They can try, but I don't see why people would adopt it.
