I have an Asus Sabertooth Z87 that was given to me by my brother to try and get some money back on his investment. He bought it for his gaming rig and something went wrong. When all together, the PC booted the first time just fine. So he went to move it to its final location and it would not boot anymore. We tore the whole thing apart and started over. re-seat ram, re-seat CPU cooler, check all the power connections, check for anything that might be grounding out to the case... NOTHING!
So we started replacing stuff. Got new RAM, did not help. Used a different power supply, nope. Replaced all the Sata Cables (I know this would not prevent it from posting), nope. Finally we pulled the CPU and put it into another board. The CPU worked just fine in another board! So this means the issue lies within the motherboard.
Called up ASUS got an RMA. Sent it off. It came back rather quickly, with a letter. The letter basically said they refused to replace/repair the board because there was damage to the socket! So we thought how can this be? We removed the CPU once to put it in the other board and never put it back in. And it booted fine the first time we had put it in.
Took the board out of the box and took a look at the socket. Sure enough a couple pins were pushed over. There is no way it was like that when we sent it. So basically ASUS fucked up his motherboard and sent it back to us...
I do not want to try and repair it myself because I risk damaging it more so I figured someone on bitcointalk would be able to fix it and get some use out of it.
