will proof of stake prevail?

when studying the whole subject, POF (proof of work) seems to go against all the modern thinking (sustainability, everything green etc)

Looking at the current dissolute BTC hashrate and the rapid growth of it, one cannot resist the feeling that it is not the best direction.

However I can understand the fact that POF is a real proof, that something (computer power) must have been working a lot to get these results (confirmation)

I just see it as an alternative. I don't know wether it will prevail or not, but I'm sure it'll work alongside BTC.
