We are back to square one again with the zerocoin movement and silk road coming back. We started gaining legitimacy and now going backwards.

I support the current traceability of Bitcoin, no more no less. We need to stop scaring the governments. Old fat white men are spooked easily. We need a few more years to really infiltrate society so it reaches a point of no return.

You think zerocoin will help? No. Circle will be required to use registered addresses and Goldman Sachs doesn't care.

I don't think that the ability for anonyminity or criminality is what scares the old white men. I think it's the potential for the loss of control that cryptocurrency represents.  They can't maintain a death grip on the populations finances if they can't control the issuance of money and that, perhaps more than anything, scares the crap out of them. They don't really care if we're using it to buy drugs or other illegal things. They can make money on the backside of that too by prosecuting offenders. The worry about loss of control.

Personally, I would love to see a coin that offers total anonymity with ease. I know Bitcoin can be anonymous but it takes work.

Zerocoin is very cool but not as an extension to Bitcoin. It needs to be its own currency.

There will be a time for Zerocoin (and Litecoin, and Peercoin, Primecoin and a few other alts which really innovate).

But that time is far in the future, not right now. Circle will make it much easier for people to use/accept BTC, it will spread mass adoption.

Once we are there, we can think about improvement and alternatives. But for crypto to succeed, BTC needs to go first - just the way it is.

Yes the way it is. Anyone that wants extra anonymity can create their own coin. Just dont ruin Bitcoin. We can mix through alts later.

You can mix through alts right now. Go change your bits to lites, then to dogs, and then to cats, then back to bits. Wait a day in between, you might even make a profit while you're doing it.

Nothing will help the banks and the fiat men. You have to take a look at what happens to your money once you put into your bank, and also look at what the bailouts for banks is really doing. Once understand it more you'll see not matter what crypto currency you throw into the mix the banks are fucked, and so is the government.

In short your money goes to the GDP. So everyone you sank most of their money into a crypto currency like bitcoin which isn't regulated by governments or banks do you see the problem?

Secondly for there to be another currency out there as big as bitcoin there needs to be a lot of it. Right now bitcoin is the biggest and baddest because there are 11 million bitcoins in the world, the others zerocoin need be up there in the number of available coins to really be considered as a possible competing currency.

be realistic: even when you dont like it, it will happen anyway. when they dont do it, others will do. ban fiat money, thats drug money no 1!

and then you are  traceble trough all coins (blockchains), not good idea. zerocoin is a solution.

The fact that you think privacy/anonymity and voluntary trade between people are "illegitimate" is quite offensive.
