Bitcoins value will decrease initially due to its non regulated nature. The world is watching now. There should be some regulatory issues to use bitcoins. It will reduce flow of investments.

Trust: -6: -1 / +0(0)
Warning: Trade with extreme caution!

How did you get such a bad rating and are still a noob?

Who's Ross Ulbricht?

He has been accused of running silk road.
He is referring to this article:

Thanks for the explanation

Well even assuming he gets his BTC back and whatnot, and decides to dump them all at the same time, it's only 173,000 ...

In my opinion definitely bitcoins will rise in 2014 as bitcoins popularity is rising every part of the world. Bitcoins is turning into the globally accepted currency. In 2013 the crossing of $1000 was a clear evidence to the potential of bitcoin. So 2014 will be a big year for bitcoin

I expect to see a growing number of programmers building out new Bitcoin infrastructure in 2014, further legitimising it's usage as a credible medium of exchange. There will undoubtedly be more bumps on the way but I firmly believe in the technology and shortcomings in our current financial systems it endeavours to solve... for that reason, I'm in for the long game!

Bitcoin will definitely reach at least $2,000 by the end of the 2014 but what Bitcoin really needs to get extremely stronger is more online stores accepting it.

Anyway even though I think bitcoin will reach the $10,000 people say, I don't think it's gonna be this year.

... but who knows, right?

I cannot see why it'd be any less accepted than it is now. I'm sure many many more merchants will be dealing with Bitcoin and the price will follow suitably along.

In 2013 the crossing of $1000 was a clear evidence to the potential of bitcoin. So 2014 will be a big year for bitcoin

I think there is a lot of truth there. As a some what new comer to crypto I am always left questioning what exactly it is that gives the coin value.
The more desirable it is to have, the more I think the price will rise.
Look at what happened when China hopped on, then off.

The more risk people are willing to take, people with money buying into bitcoin, the more other people will see it and accept it as something "real".
The largest issue I see, and encountered, was how to obtain bitcoins without paying through the nose in fees and such.
If someone set up a way to sell "gift cards" with bitcoins and they made their way into brick and mortar I think that would help.

To gain acceptance and get out there is the best thing I think bitcoin can do. Sadly most of the people I talk to about it know nothing or know it to be only a Buzzword.
Making bitcoins easier to obtain will make it easier for people to use them in their day to day lives.
Thanks for mowing my yard, here is a 20 dollar bitcoin giftcard/paper wallet. I know the paper wallets exist but it is a matter of making it easy for people.
Making some type of app/wallet that people can use on their phone (dunno if that has been done)

Branding plays a large part in consumerism. People like brands because they represent trust with companies. You know what you are getting when you buy a Big Mac.
Regulation is what helps to build trust in the brand. I think it will be interesting to see how the no regulation/lack of regulation plays out.

We can't grow when we won't criticize ourselves!

You never know about bitcoin, but since wall street is remoured to go into bitcoins and with kitco now acknowledging bitcoins as an asset alongside precious metals, stocks and forex i think it will be a bright future.

However, judging from previous trends, we are still at the beginning of the famous S-curve of tech adoption..

Best regards from Anima - proud member of the Radix team.
