Question about "reserved"

 I see people posting "reserved" in some of the announcements of new alt coins. What is this for?? Is it worth doing??

I believe they are looking to advertise in their reserved space later if the post gets popular and from my perspective it doesn't add any value to the thread.  I would not suggest doing this as we need the forums to be as efficient as possible and posting "reserved" in that manner clutters things up without adding value.  Please correct me if I'm wrong or this is miss-information.
