Hello fellow miners!

I'm planning to do some GPU mining and I looked up some gear. I'm thinking to buy:

mobo: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/B85-G43.html
PSU: http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/csp-x1200cs-80-plus-silver-certified-power-supply.html
GPU: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/product_index.aspx?pid=2022&lid=1

I'm planning to connect 3 of these r9 280x to the mobo with 3 x1-x16 powered riser cables Smiley Will this work out?
Is it possible to connect a fourth gpu if I want to? Would my mobo handle it?

Thanks in advance!  Wink

Im not an expert yet but im almost positive that the 2 pci-Express 1x slots will run the gpu's just as well as the pci-express 16x. If that is true then yes you can add a 4th gpu

I have been thinking about building a rig just like this. I'm still deciding whether to look for some 280x's or some 7950's

Looks good but im still preparing to build my rig so i'd wait to here from a more experienced member.

Also your gonna need a hard drive and some memory. But those dont affect the mining

If you intend to mine Bitcoins, you should not be looking at any form of CPU or GPU hardware. GPUs are no longer worth it, their hash rate is so low and so power hungry compared to ASICs.

You will make more BTC with an ASIC miner, which are especially made for BTC and other SHA-256 cryptocurrencies. GPU mining is dead for BTC.

HOWEVER

Due to the fact that it's not been mined as much and the difficulty is lower, you may be able to earn something using GPUs while scrypt mining for cryptocurrencies such as Litecoin and Dogecoin.
