Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Vancouver is the most tech-savvy place in all of Canada. What we need to do is to spread the popularity of Bitcoin to the largest cities, such as Toronto and Montreal. Need more ATMs in these cities as well.  Wink

We're working on it. The Bitcoiniacs and Quadriga will both bring ATMs to other Canadian cities, and together I expect them to cover every major area, often overlapping. I also would suggest holding a CoinFest in your locality--it can only be held at a venue that accepts alternative currency, so the prospect of having it is a good way to encourage adoption.

I know eh?  I don't know why its taking so long to get an ATM in Toronto.  Even if it isn't as widely adopted, I imagine that there is enough people.

I realize having an ATM in Vancouver is necessary due to the huge Chinese population.  Being able to transfer BTC to China for no cost is amazing!

Both the Bitcoin Alliance and Quadriga CX have plans to install ATMs in Toronto during Q1 2014.
