I don't really understand why anyone would sell hashing when they could just mine with it. Can anyone enlighten me?

hardware companies make their money selling hardware.  They sell so much that they can make more selling their product if they can sell into the future, such that miners have a hard time deciding if they should buy or not.

As for anyone else, they are simply minimizing their exposure or they are taking advantage of someone.

They sell hashing because there are many people that will pay more for mining than they will receive. I don't know why people are happy to lose money on mining but they are, and there are companies that are happy to accommodate them.

I did it when dogecoin took off. I couldnt mine what I wanted so I paid someone to mine for me. I broke even by selling my dogecoin and still have a good amount in my wallet just sitting there. We will see if I every goes back up. You have to play it right or else you end up losing money. In the end you really dont know what altcoin is going to "make it" so its always a risk.
