Edited the title since people dont think speculating about the ability for BTC to buy something else has anything to do with BTC

You might have noticed all the new alternative bitcoin currencies.
WEll one has shone above the rest.
Solidcoin so far is the best performing alternative currency that isnt namecoin.

Ixcoin is at 0.001 and i0coin is broken but sitting at 0.0005 but
Right now solidcoin is trading at 0.0075BTC which is better than any of the others have gotten, and it;s rise seams to be pretty steady(it did have one big collapse at the same time as ixcoin and i0coin but since then has risen steadily each day.)

it can be pretty volatile though, yesterday a low of .0035 and a high of .0071.. over double. It is still 1/4 of namecoin value but closing on that .01 is a big mental milestone.

I've joked about all these new coins, called them more gambling apps than currencies and hey that might still be true, but solidcoin has been pretty solidly going up so far. And right now it is MORE profitable to mine.

IS the bubble about to burst? should I stick with bitcoin which just dropped in value(and yeah i get that solid is traded in btc so a drop in value is a drop in value.. but soon you will be able to trade solidcoins straight for dollars)

Or should I trade all my BTC and point all my hashes to solidcoin?

Do you think solidcoin will hit one bit cent? will it catch up to namecoin? Do you care?

Doesn't look like it has too far to go to hit 1 bitcent. Seems pretty likely right now anyway.

EDIT: yep just hit 1 bitcent.

it might, the trouble is the interest in the new scamcoin chains can go to 0 in a single day, the day it's not more profitable to mine and trade for btc, than mine for btc, just try to get out before the crash.

watching the other two crash, I can say this is very true. Heck watching bitcoin crash after mybitcoin.. this is ALSO true for bitcoin but bitcoin has a lot of infrastructure(places to use it) that it has a bit more protection.

So far the other two coins waned in interest about .004BTC in value.. this one doesnt seemt to be even slowing down.

CUrrently I have a total of 2 solid coins left over from my last bit of trading.. I got out way way way down when it was 0.003, So I dont have a dog in this hunt right now. Btu I might soon enough.

Yea, I got out way way too soon. I was thinking it was another pump n' dump like everyone else and wasn't going to recover, like i0coin.

I started mining again late yesterday, have around 250 SC right now.

Bitrcoin -->fork --->solidcoin

Solidcoin, exchange BITCOIN

Not solidcoin exchange dollars.

If you would like me to reword it, I can.

Right now 1 bitoin will buy 100 solidcoins, how far will bitcoin fall against solidcoin? Tomorrow will bitcoin only be able to buy 50 solidcoins?

It is still bitcoin speculation but I will be glad to change the title for you.

Volume: 167620.87080450 Shocked
This is 26% of all solidcoins mined so far, right? Wow. That's some kind of volume.

Edit: http://solidcoin.kicks-ass.org/graphs/graphs.html
This exchange rate rally has the bitcoin bubble speed of growth beaten. Doubled, nay tripled price in a day.

here are some cool charts and graphs to look at

and notice they are continuing development, which is nice and different from the other alt coins.

anyways  from the post

Quote
Also of note is the current hoarding of SolidCoin's. Only 10% of the available SolidCoins are available to purchase.

I'm guessing some of that volume is people selling and then buying and then selling again.

Doubled? Almost tripled! High: 0.01749900. Or should I say Low: 57.14612264. This is the biggest RALLYCRASH ever!

Edit: And as I said that, the price is going to crash to 0.013. Solidcoin has successfully completed the past 6 monthes of bitcoin in 3-4 days.

it's a faster edgier coin/.

it's pretty volatile as i said before, the low today was 3 times as low as the high, that's just nuts. And it was like that yesterday and the day before, but it seems to have lows less low and highs higher, each day after the one before.

I can honestly say I never thought it would do this well, or I wouldnt have sold all my coins, it dropping a little makes it easier to get back into.. but then again, this could be the time it goes to zero. But so far my luck has been nothing but good with these alternative currencies, probably time to spin that big wheel again. Tongue

and back to 1btc = 100+ solidcoins.. this volatility is enough to give someone heart trouble. It has dropped as fast as it rose.. er rose as fast as it dropped Tongue

so will bitcoins continue to rise against solidcoin? is this the end for the new super alternative coin? stay tuned and find out Tongue

Blah blah blah.. same story as the ones before.  People trying to make a quick buck as an early adopter.  We'll see the same story next week, and the next week and the next week.. with FasterCoin, and then EdgierCoin, and then TheEvenBetterThanBitCoinCoin

The people that got in early come and pump the idea of a new coin so they can sell their holdings off and make some profit.. Congrats, look like your going to do pretty decent on this version.

Nothing is going to overtake bitcoin unless there is an absolutely revolutionary idea and purpose for the new currency.

How is solidcoin different from bitcoin?

It's just like bitcoin, but even less people use it for anything useful.  I missed the original bitcoin generation feeding frenzy so when IXCoin appeared I fired up my GPUs and produced a solo mined 96 IXCoin block.  Woohoo.  They're completely useless, as are all imitations of bitcoins.

First, bitcoin will fall, people will jump and hype SolidCoin, because it's sooo much *cough* better...
Then, people will say, well this is retarded and useless, SolidCoin crashes and dies out.
Then they all have a laugh about how stupid ecurrencies were and how we left so many people holding the bag.
Then the economy crashes and we whish we had put any serious effort into bitcoin instead of making it a personal profit sceme.

Just what my crystal ball tells me.

How is solidcoin different from bitcoin?

the main attraction of the alternate scamcoin chains is greed, to attract people wanting to be early adopters, which drives the price up, which can make it more profitable to mine and exchange for btc then just mining btc. which drives the difficulty up, eventually it will approach a balance with trading for bitcoin vs mining for bitcoin, when you see that coming get out, it may fall faster than you can react if you wait for the collapse to start.

well one of the things that has thus far prevented that, is how fast difficulty adjusts.

Solidcoin has been at parity with bitcoin and difficulty a few times, and when people leave the difficulty drops in 12 hours making it profitable again.
the twice daily difficulty readjustments was actually pretty smart and one of the better features of solid coins.

If you look at namecoin, their difficulty dropped a few weeks ago, and we all hopped onto namecoin for about 4 days, and the difficulty went up 400%.. now the diehards are mining at the higher difficulty and it isnt supposed to drop again until decemember 20th when me and others will probably dog pile it again and they will be stuck with the higher difficulty for another 3 months.. that is unless merged mining comes into play.

Solidcoin avoids all of that.

I agree the twice daily difficulty adjustments was created to keep the game going longer, but it still wont last forever, the miners, especially the big 20GH and up miners will try to keep it going as long as possible jumping on and off, they will hype it up also, but interest and price will fall eventually and each attempt to hop off and on will be less effective than the last,  till eventually "feck it" back to btc, that's how it should go anyway  Grin

maybe one day bitcoin will hit a genuine roadblock with a real need for new protocol, but we're not there yet and solid/ix coin or whatever with there insignificant and simple changes isn't it. thats why I call them scamcoins  Grin

I'm profiting nicely with SC to BTC atm (even though it's not as much as everyone else with mega power GPUs and multiple computers running at the same time.I only have 2 comps (1 PC with HD6950 giving ~405MHash/s and MBP giving me ~10MHash/s) running and I have made quite a bit in about a week and hte difficulty drop earlier today made me even richer.I think Sc will be the viable mid term solution as it'll be like the BTC that should have been (with design and difficulty handling)

made over 1BTC (via mining Sc and converting to BTC despite transaction fees) in 1wk compared to 0.67BTC (being mined directly)

Well right now it takes 200 solidcoins to buy one BTC. 50% devalue in like a day. Once bitparking shutdown their exchange the price move far down on moon's exchange.
