Hi Guys,

My name is Pete and this is my first post here, so Hi to you All!
This forum is mind blowing, heaps of content, cant wait to contribute to some discussions.
Also Happy New Year! this year will be a very important one for bitcoin.

OK, so, I am a member of a small, but very eager developer team ready to create something amazing for the bitcoin community. We have some funds available, we owns some bitcoins and have a few great ideas as well. Planning to build an exchange and possibly an online store application, but before we invest our time any further, would be great to hear what exactly the bitcoin community is missing?

Imagine you have money to develop something, what would be that KILLER idea?
or what would be the key application the bitcoin world could benefit from?

Thanks heaps guys!

Cheers,
Pete

In my opinion the very best thing that can be done right now is to rebuild a central communication platform, with bitcoin build into it. Like a messageboard, but better. Build a really good messageboard with a working trust system, enforce sensible policies to avoid scam/advertisement. Not easy to do at all. This could start with a smaller group to test such things out, i.e. how to build trust and produce a filtering mechanism that works. Such a system could be leveraged in various ways. And there are many interesting problems to solve in this area. For example a very good voting system. Not just votes in a thread, but more like votes in a company.

build a system that can interface with 90% of banks in such a way that it goes from bank to p2p trading platform and back seamlessly, and the banks cant object or even know about it.

The bank just sees the money transferred to what looks like another account at another bank or international wire.

that is the killer idea.

it is all open source and people can right their own api's/plugins for various bank setups to integrate back.

Pete I warmly welcome you to this forum and thank you for your intention of contributing to this community and bitcoins. Nice to hear you are willing to invest your time, energy, skills and finances for the sake of bitcoins. I can’t think of any killer idea yet but will surely share if I got one later

Accept Credit Card payments for bitcoins.

The buyer would get their bitcoins at the price at the time of purchase, but they could not spend them until 6 months have passed (the time needed to avoid chargebacks).

First seastead company actually selling sea homes: Ocean Builders https://ocean.builders  Of course we accept bitcoin.

Why would anyone use a credit card today to receive bitcoins in 6 months time?

Newbs that want to easily get into Bitcoin for the first time just so they can say they have some bitcoins.

Or investors that see the price drop but do not have liquid cash in a place where they can take advantage of the good deal.

Remember, CoinBase does not allow you to spend for 1 month after your first purchase.

there are a lot of new bitcoin ideas and more businesses of bitcoin are being available every day,
so you should come up with your own unique idea this way, you can put your fire and all of energy in it.
You will be most successful that way

Hey Pete, I would like a dedicated bitcoin operating system, especially for the phone. I love mycelium but how can I trust the other apps on my phone that I have no idea about? I also just don't like cold storage. It works and it's secure, but the average Joe isn't going to be comfortable with today's solution. Especially as I'm always traveling. Also if I suddenly croak, how would I allow my non techie relatives safe access to any btc i have?

hi guys,

thanks for the comments and ideas, some of them are really brilliant and will think about it on the next team meeting.

from the other hand, of course we also have ideas worth pursuing, the one I am most fond of is to provide a service where ordinary folks can own bitcoin and does not need to go through all the technical bits and bobs. For example I would be delighted to be able to send my dad some coins for the rainy days, in a safe and secure way, what is easily understandable for him.
even text funds over to him, what would automatically debited to his account whenever if he wishes.

cheers

The way to ensure the survival of Bitcoin and eliminate corruption is by making a decentralized P2P exchange that really works. I can't think of a more "killer idea."

Can't you just buy bitcoins with a credit card off of an exchange like virwox ?
