Electrum 1.9.6 will not connect or launch network panel [ Mac OS 10.7.5 ]

Dear Community :

I was having issues with Electrum (wallet)  1.9.5 and upgraded to .6 --

The new client will not connect to bitcoin servers and it will not launch the network panel ( when I click on red network LED ) ..

I am planning to downgrade .. perhaps to a version 1.8.x  as that version was stable and functioned properly --

Is there something i may be overlooking or perhaps a suggestion for clearing up the issues of 1.9.6 ?

same problem here
