I just saw the thread but since I am a new user and cant post elsewhere, thought I might put up the question here. I downloaded the wallet and it says "no blockchain available" or some like that as well as 0 connections to network. I hope its not a scam infecting my pc with malware...

any comments?

Moving this to alt currencies for you, you will probably get better support there.

You can also post in the thread, even though its in alt currencies and you are a new member, because it is your thread.

1: Always run any wallet you download in a sandbox invironment provided by your virus scanner, or check it here; https://www.virustotal.com/en/
2: You need to create a mona.conf file in your users/yourname/appdata/roaming/monacoin/ folder and include some connection details and nodes
3:

There are no scam coins.  Only coins which are more or less profitable for certain people.

Next time try to do some research and ask for OPINIONS and THOUGHTS from people before using the word "SCAM". It makes people nervous and you could possibly ruin some hard work people put into a coin. Just a piece of advice.

I agree. Sometimes, less logic yields unexpectedly high results. Try doge also. Its as idiotic as it can be  Grin

No problem. I know it can be all a little confusing when you're new. If you're having difficulty connecting to a wallet, usually someone will have posted about it in the official coin thread. It should have all the information you need. You may need to look around to find the right settings for your miner, depending on if you're solo mining or pool mining, but all the information is on the forum, you just have to dig for it.  Smiley
