Like the title says I'm a newbie when it comes to this stuff, I'm no stranger to the PC half. Looking to be a part of this community with the help of the fellow members here! I'm running a bit of an old PC setup but it does the job for what I do.

Are you interested in mining or just playing with coins? Daytrading or in for the long run? You don't need an expensive pc, videocard or asic miner to join in. Just buy some Bitcoins, open a wallet and your good to go. Cryptsy.com has a lot of alternative coins to trade.

there are also other new altcoins you may want to look into. in the early stages of Altcoins you can mind up hundreds and thousands in few hours with just a low end video card. I haven't looked further into other alt coins yet but i can tell you that Graincoin is very new. it just been release few weeks ago so you may want to check that out. Earthcoin coin you may want to look into as well..

Hi

I am also Newbie. This forum seems to be a very good place to find out about the world of bitcoins. I expect to spend quite a lot of time just reading through the posts to start with. There does seem to be a lot of information available on this site

And of course I need to setup a bitcoin wallet - so that's the next job.

No doubt I will be asking some naive questions soon, but I think I will have a read through the information on offer first  Smiley

Hello to everyone on the forum

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys! I want to start mining but I'm so confused as to how to even get anything started, all the guides get confusing after I start reading. My setup is as follows:

I7 950 @ 4ghz
Asus Sabertooth x58
16gb Corsair Vengeance
Diamond 5970
Corsair HX850

I just ordered a watercooling setup, so this should all be under water in about a week or so except the 5970 cause I cant for the life of me find a block for it.

this is a new post.

I'm also newbie and very interested in litecoin mining.  currently have one rig running at 3mhz/s and also preorder alpha-t viper.
i'm here to share info and please grant me the priviledge to post.

the newbie rule is a little complicated for this forum. anyway i found it using google.

is this post substantial enough?  thanks

lol dude, "got a bit of an old computer here":
4ghz i7, 16gb ram, decent graphics card...
back in my day old meant 1 gb ram, pentium, and on board graphics! (im not very old)

you'll most likely want to start mining something with low difficulty and is scrypt based. check out multipool.us for whatever they're currently mining.. there's another site that has a TON of coins with all their stats (like profitability %, difficulty, etc) lined up for miners but i'm blanking right now.. hopefully somebody else can fill in that gap ^^

woo first post!
