The unpowered riser cable will only work with older cards, use a powered riser cable instead.

That's the one you will need. It is done by the magic of electrickery Lolz How about the bandwidth, the rates of the job to the GPU is super low, right? (I remember that when I build my FPGA miners for bitcoin coin last year, RS232 was fast enough). I can see on the mobo schematic that the 16X is directly connected to the CPU, but the 1x slots is connected to port extension, so I am pretty sure you can not go higher than Gen2 on the PCIe 1x slot (properly only Gen1).

Your card automatically switches to the x1 because it doesn't get the signal from the bus from the other missing 15 PCIe lanes. Even the lowest PCIe x1 gives 250MB/s and Scrypt is the worst bus bandwidth hog that uses 1KB per hash so 200+ GPU's simultaneously mining Scrypt if my mental math is correct.

Hi, Beware of the cable on Amazon as they have the thin VGA type wires that may get too hot over time. We stock higher quality cables with a triple thickness of wire to prevent this heat and potential fire issue. Please view the images below to see the thicker and high quality of cable. We have many of these cables plus more at our online shop. www.litecoinminingparts.comIf you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Kind regards, Tom

Do the PCI to PCIe adapters require any specific drivers other than stock AMD drivers? I popped a card in and it shows in device manager, but 0.000KH/s in cgminer. Can't seem to get cgminer to recognize the card if it passes through the PCI to PCIe adapter and an x16 riser cable.

And as I am re-reading, disregard my post. I'm not using x1 to x16, just PCI to PCIe x16. I'll find another thread
