Reserved ?

I see a lot of posts simply containing 'reserved' in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=393572.0, why is that..?

I'd assume either
1) They could sell the reserved post to someone who might need it (f.ex. the thread starter)
2) Easier to follow the thread later

Is there any better explanation for why people post "reserved" so often. It doesn't make sense to me.

It does seem to make it too convenient for someone to edit the "reserved" post and then be able to make it into an "I told you so" post later.
