Hi,

As I need to make a post here before I can post to the conversation I really signed up for, I thought I'd see what peoples opinions were on people new to mining, whether it's actually worth anyone investing in lower level bitcoin mining hardware or if it's only worth it if you've got big bucks to spend?

And if not, does that mean all newbies will be mining Scrypt coins on GPU's until the new round of ASICS arrive?

Also, what coins are the rest of us newbies mining? You see some coins swinging wildly in value and difficulty as the big miners pump and dump, are most people following the trend? staying with a coin they like the sound of? staying in the middle ground? picking one from thin air? or just using a coin switching pool and hoping for the best?

Would be good to hear your opinions!

Personally I'm picking two or three scrypt coins that are reasonably profitable and have a good outlook based on the way they work and the future plans for the coins etc.

Cheers,

Random.

Welcome!

Forget ASIC mining, too big a budget needed. The big guys own this arena. Especially when the alternative is GPU mining. Even playing safe with Litecoins you will make a profit.

My strategy is to trade volatility and hold a select few. my holds for now are QRK, LTE and DOGE (couldn't help it!).

I'm trading at the moment Mooncoin simply because it is swinging between 0.000002 and 0.000004 during each day. So am selling at high end and buying much lower. If my current BUY order is filled I will have multiplied my mined mooncoin holding by 800% in just 2 days. Then simply repeat. (While I wait for my proper mining rigs to arrive!).

Good luck!
