multibit wallets go poof!

very odd thing

opened multibit in windows and all the wallets were gone
they all just vanished

anyone have an account for this?

the whole program also seemed to date back to November, as if it was never used.

I had back ups on the off line flash, but would like to know what accounts for this strange behavior before I trust this program again.

yes, I checked to see if I had deleted them by some mistake - check the recycle and did a full recuva it's like they never existed. No one else was near this machine.

suggestions are welcomed.
