I just opened 1.9.6 today, which I have done for several days now, on OSX, and it says "not connected"

I click on the 'red circle' and nothing happens. Isn't that where the host list is supposed to pop up?

If not, how can I select a host to connect to?

thx!!

Problem solved. I had to close it twice and re-open it, but it then synchronized fine.

I think the issue is I have "auto-connect" on, and if that host isn't operational, I just get a red circle and no way to click on it to switch to a different server.

What version of OSX are you running?
Electrum 1.9.6 does not work on my OSX 10.8.5.

OSX 10.9.1 - Electrum generally works fine on 10.9.1

I'm having the same issue on Mac OS 10.7.5, but closing and re-opening it several times doesn't change anything at all. It says "Not connected" on the bottom left, and nothing happens upon clicking the red sphere on he bottom right or clicking "Tools >> Network".

I can confirm this problem.

I had never used electrum before and tried a fresh installation on Mac OS X 10.8.5 (Electrum 1.9.5 and 1.9.6), and Xubuntu 12.04 (1.9.6), with two different internet connections.

Electrum always stays "not connected"...

Is there any problem with the auto-connect feature and/or the electrum servers?

I think there is an issue with the auto-connect being default. If that host is down, it won't connect, and there is nothing you can do to change to other servers.

All I do is close and relaunch, and it seems to magically connect, sometimes after a couple of events.

Been stable the last few days though.

Problem persists, even when I re-open Electrum 5 times, it always stays offline. The internet connection is working fine, though. Anyone from the Electrum team willing to weigh in?

Thanks!

I think you need to turn the auto-connect off, and just choose a server. That used to be possible with old versions of electrum but seems bugged now. But you are right, the developers need to answer Smiley

Excellent! Thanks for letting us know. Time to upgrade.

Didn't my OSX version used to let me know about new versions? I Just tried rebooting and there is no message. I'm sure there was a message telling me to upgrade to 1.9.6 ..... or maybe I dreamt that? Wink

1.9.7 seems excellent. Loaded quicker and connected immediately. Definite recommend upgrading!!!
