The latest versions of CGMiner for OSX no longer support GPU mining. This is probably a good thing since I have an iMac. What are the best USB ASIC miners out there? I know BFL is a scam and KNC seems to be pretty reputable. Any advice on brands would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
source for BFL being a scam? They had some very bad business practice sometimes, but AFAIK they actually delivered?
Also, blockerupter IIRC, but it's not worth the investment imho anyway.
Good luck!

If you search BFL lawsuit on this site or /r/bitcoin, it is a lot of negative press. The amount is too overwhelming for a newbie to ignore while KNC and ASICMiner get fairly good reviews.

I realized after posting this that some ASIC miners connect through your LAN, such as ASICMiner's cube. Are ASIC miners generally setup to only mine BTC?

Many ASIC miners are mining altcoins. Right now ASIC miners can mine Bitcoin and the Bitcoin-like SHA-256 altcoins such as Zetacoin. Although there are people working on hardware designed to mine the scrypt based coins like Litecoin.

BFL Seems to have some delays and with new orders it might take sometime. KNC seems good but there are some negative feedback about technical issues after getting it. I am not sure but IMO buying a ready miner is better than making a pre-order that the delivery time for isn't confirmed.

Yep BFL is actually delivering orders now. Some delays earlier in 2013, but they seem to have caught up.

Yep BFL is actually delivering orders now. Some delays earlier in 2013, but they seem to have caught up.

Even though it makes the appearance that they have caught up there are still people waiting multiple weeks for a device that should be ready to ship within a day.

Bitcoin doesn't work without the miners.
It might happen that the proof of work will be changed to something else though.

I did finally get my Jalapeño from BFL, only about 6 months after they said I would get it. Then it ran at 5GH/s instead of the upgraded 7GH/s I paid for. They never responded to my messages, or even acknowledged I tried to contact them.
