Well, I 'discovered' crypto just over a week ago and today i'm running 3 x AntMiner U1 on an old laptop with average 4.6Gh/s, I know i'm unlikely to earn much (my main focus is on alts but i'm waiting for my GPU hardware).

In the meantime, I get to use an old laptop to do something interesting.

Getting cgminer to work with these sticks was a pain until I found the solution on this very forum!

They do seem to get hot on the back - I guess this is normal?

They run absolutely fine at 1.6Gh/s each.

But, if I start them up with bmcs-freq = 981 then they run at 2.0Gh/s each.

Is this a safe value? I've put them near a window with a cold draft (It's cold here in the UK), or would you recommend not to overclock?

How can I tell if they are starting to faulter due to not being up to the speed? What is the output of cgminer that I should keep an eye on?

Thanks in advance!

Cfx.

I've got them too but can't get them running.

What Operating System are you on? I'd love any details.

I'm using Ubuntu, an old installation on an even older laptop!

What OS are you using and what error are you getting?

It took me a few hours to get them going, let me know the problem you are getting and I might be able to help while it's still fresh in my mind!

Trying to get them running on OSX. Are you using the custom cgminer per the instruction guide?

I got three AntMiners (overclocked to 2Gh/s each) running a total of 6Gh/s purchased from ebay for $250 - just to play with, my real rigs i'm still waiting to pick up, hopefully Monday. That will be GPU hardware allowing me to mine scrypt altcoins at 6Mh/s.

I'm not bothered if it's not immediately profitable, i'm enjoying simply  taking part!
